“Our approach to this installation has been to properly understand the branch IT infrastructure and know its limitations before expecting that everything will work the same as it does in other countries. When dealing across competitive institutions you never know what you will find from an IT infrastructure perspective and so our teams set about recording information in the field. One of the key requirements of the staff in the field was to record information about the actual machine /s that will be used in the processing of credit enquiries – an IT audit of sorts – to determine if in fact the branches will be able to make use of the technology to access the credit bureau. This analysis had never previously been done and according to Compuscan’s MD was very fruitful and far less concerning than could have been the case. In response to some of our visits certain institutions are already doing RAM upgrades, and we identified that some may need to be more vigilant with antivirus measures. In general however the installations went exceptionally well and Compuscan were even able to install faster than planned in certain cases. The reception from all branches to our staff was fantastic and they were received in true Ugandan friendly fashion. Thanks for the warm Ugandan welcome, and we look forward to the rest of the roll out. |
